A mid-level commander/officer rank in many modern military forces. It can also be used to refer to a second-in-command in military or political hierarchy.lieutenant

A true American hero, a man who had a destiny. Forrest Gump's lieutenant in Vietnam who gets his legs amputated. Later, he helps Forrest get rich with Bubba Gump shrimp.
Lieutenant Sarcasm
The person you temporarily become after thanking Captain Obvious.
Example:

Person 1: You're welcome, Lieutenant Sarcasm.

A person in the army, or marines who thinks they know everything. After about 5 years of looking like a dumbass they learn some shit and get 1st lieutenant.

Lipstick Lieutenant
A mildly derogatory term for a Warrant Officer in the US Marine Corps, derived from the WO's insignia: a Lieutenant's bar with a series of red enamelled blocks denoting the WO's grade.
