RDF is The Reserve Defence Forces is the title given to the reserve components of the Irish Defence Forces. It comprises the Army Reserve (AR) and the Naval Service Reserve (NSR).

It was established on October 1, 2005 and replaced the second line reserve, previously named An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil (FCA) in the case of the AR, and An Slua Muirí in the case of the NSR.
In 1997 a steering group was convened by the Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces to conduct a special study on the restructuring of the Reserve Defence Forces. The report was completed in May 1999. The Reserve Defence Forces was established in 2005 in line with the recommendations of this report, and as part of a wider restructure of the defence forces from 2000.

The Army Reserve has three reserve infantry brigades (with an establishment of 9,292 personnel), and an integrated reserve (2,656 personnel) forming part of the regular army unit structure.

The Naval Service Reserve has an establishment of 400 and is organised into two groups, each consisting of two companies.

An abbreviation, stands for the Reserve Defence Forces in the Irish military. Also PDF is another abbreviation used in the Irish military, this stands for the Permanent Defence forces.
Example:

Short for reality-distortion field. An expression used to describe the persuasive ability of managers like Steve Jobs (the term originated at Apple in the 1980s to describe his peculiar charisma). Those close to these managers become passionately committed to possibly insane projects, without regard to the practicality of their implementation or competitive forces in the marketpace.
Example:
Steve Jobs is extremely demanding of all those around him and has a very low tolerance for anything but excellence. Because he can be shockingly blunt in his dealings with others, he is often portrayed as abusive, but this is dead wrong. He simply demands/expects great things from everyone around him. I honestly believe he can't understand why anyone would want to waste their time doing anything less than great.

RDF = reality distortion factor.

A male syndrome encompassing all the major symptoms of SPS (small penis syndrome) but bolstered by a insane need to prove ones self worth by distorting reality in thoughts, deeds and emotions.
Example:
"I backed it in on the outside of this guy at Miller for the pass. Unluckly for me they red flagged the race and he got the win....now our boy Dom is the man. He's living the dream and by seeing this it gives me more fuel to try harder. "

obviously the RDF in the above statement is at a 8.3 or even 8.5.
