easter eggs
A hidden item placed in a movie, television show, or otherwise visual media for close watchers.Originates from the the 1975 movie "
The Rocky Horror Picture Show," when the cast had an
Easter Egg hunt but most of the eggs went unfound. They can be seen throughout the film in various locations (such as under Frank N.
Furter's throne).

1) A painted egg, often hidden by
the Easter bunny on Easter. May also be a
chocolate egg with some sort of filling.
2) A secret, hidden inside a video game, DVD movie, or even one of
Strong Bad's e-mails. Often, it's not needed to progress a story.

Also refers to a piece of "
unrated material" that has been added to a DVD, but is not part of the visible menu. Usually happened upon by moving the
cursor in a
cardinal direction that is not in the general flow of the menu selections.
Example:
In a vertical listing of a
menu, moving the
cursor left or right might allow you to happen upon an easter egg.

files coded into software or websites.
In the end, they are useless
gags that programmers include for fun.

Example:
In
Grand Theft Auto Vice City there is a specific
ramp, where if you hit it just right on your motorcycle you go through a window in to a room containing an
easter egg. In this case the easter-egg is a statue of an actual easter egg.

Example:
In Grant Theft Auto
Vice City, there is a big amount of
easter eggs, for example, at 20:00 the light of a building light and form the shape of
male genitals.
