haute
Haute means "high" in French. It is pronounced "
hote", NOT "hot". It is used most commonly with the word "Couture" (pronounced catore) which means "fashion" in French. Thus,
Haute Couture means High Fashion. It does not, however, mean hawt, hot, sexy, whatever. People who use
haute in place of those words are idiots who seriously need to read the REAL dictionary instead of urbandictionary.com.

Past hawt, shmexy,
seckzy,
secksy and
secksi combined, haute is the only way to describe tons of celebrities who are so hot they almost knock you over when you see them.
Also another expression used in the same way as hot; could also be used to describe erotic or semi-erotic situations (much like the word hot tends to do).
Example:
Some really haute celebrities are:
Jake Gyllenhaal,
Adam Levine,
Ewan McGregor and about a million others.
Oh my god, guys, wouldn't it be so haute if those two started holding hands? THEY'RE HOLDING HANDS IN MY MIND! LOOK GUYS LOOK!

French for 'high' feminine is
haute and masculine is
haut. It does not have to be paired with the word Couture (meaning sewing) The 'H' is not pronounced. haute is pronounced like OAT.
It's one of those words really misused and misunderstood in English
It does NOT MEAN hot.
but when used with the word couture, meaning to sew, it means , High Fashion. Or
sophisticatedly made clothing.

Haute
...actually DOES have a meaning on its own, and doesn't have to be
paired with "
couture". It means "fashionably elegant" OR "
high class" OR simply "fancy"...
Example:
haute
adj.
Fashionably
elegant: “In Washington, haute
gastronomy is at least as important as the national economy”...
...please get it straight before calling someone else an idiot!

The
explaination (following the sounds you made) when you tried to cool off the
scorching hot food you prematurely shoved into your mouth and couldn't spit out.
Example:
"
LC, why are you making that face at the
dinnner table?"
"Haaw, haaw,
haut."
