new jersey

east coast state, discriminated against by those who have been only as far as the outskirts of new york city. while new jersey has its fair share of cities, grime, and crime, a large portion consists of expansive suburbs, beautiful land, and farms. brick, new jersey: second safest town in the nation. home to bon jovi, bruce springsteen, catch 22, jay and silent bob (and several kevin smith films, including "dogma"), princeton university, the sopranos, and the celebrated "weird nj." while accents and hairstyles vary, it is extremely rare that one falls into the stereotypical "joisey" caricature.

new jersey
The small country thats a state. We have everything the rest of the country has. Think about it.

In New Jersey, you could watch the sun rise on the east coast, and watch it set on the west. You can climb a mountain in the morning, swim in the ocean in the afternoon, and get robbed at gunpoint in Newark by night. It's the only state where massive oil refineries and dairy farms are only a few miles apart. You a crazy busy industrious North, and a more set back relaxed south. Last, but not least, you can always be sure that where ever you are, a 24-hour diner is near by.

The United Counties of Jersey.
Example:
Guy #1: I'm bored, what should we do.
Guy #2: Lets go to New Jersey, they have everything.

I recently moved to NJ from Connecticut. I came here knowing and pretty much believing all of the negative stereotypes about NJ (like "NJ - the armpit of America" -- one of my personal favorites). But I had NEVER ACTUALLY BEEN THERE. Alot of others on this site have done an excellent job of debunking the myths about NJ & its people, so I'll just add this: I'm a million times happier in this state than I ever was or could be in CT and so is just about everybody I know. Nuff said? I'm so glad I'm no longer the superficial, mean, bigoted, insecure tight ass that I was in CT.
Example:
The Garden State (NJ nickname)
"NJ - Keeping It Real" (unofficial motto)
Join the Human Race -- move to New Jersey (my advice)
A bit-o-history: Some statesman in the 1700s compared NJ to an immense barrel, filled with good things to eat and open at both ends, with Pennsylvanians grabbing from one end and the New Yorkers from the other. Perhaps PA & NY have drained the periphery areas of NJ so much that they are now the blight that gives NJ such a bad rap. Just a thought.

new jersey
The first misconception other states have of New Jersey is that it "smells". Infact the only part of Jersey that may be a little rough on the nostrils is that of coming to the Lincoln Tunnel, since it is heavily populated in the surrounding areas with factories and marshes(which DO NOT home dead bodies).

Jersey is infact one of the wealthiest states in the country that people just can't help but moving to due to it's scenic portions and safe, quiet suburbs. Not to mention the fact that whichever end you choose to move to(North or South) you're in direct locations to two of the largest, bussling cities in the USA(Philadelphia & Manhatten). Not crossing out Central Jersey which is home to some of the most clean, friendliest beaches on the East Coast which has abundant tourism rates in the summer and hoppin' boardwalks.

All our residents in this state may seem very short fused, but hey...YOU try hearing a bunch of shit from bennies and other states sayin' how much you suck and your state is worthless and we'll see how you feel at the end of the day.

We hold it down here, infact i've lived here for 19 years of my life(and counting) and found upon visiting other states(such as Mass., Virginia, Nevada, Arizona, Maryland, Pennsylvania) that i MUCH rather live here for the rest of my life then in some economic wasteland and/or socially constipated place(yeah Virgina, I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU!).
Example:
i"NEW JOISEY THE GARBAGE STATE!! YAK YAK YAK"/i

i"Yeah, that's reeeeeeeeeal original, nope, never heard THAT one before"/i

new jersey
East Coast State. Lots of stereotypes are false about this state just like there are false stereotypes about your state.
Information:
- Capital is Trenton
- Three regions, North, South, Central
- We DON'T say Joisey, we say Jurzee
- Depending on where you live you are either close to NYC or Philly
- Lots of rich suburbs, ghetto cities, and beach towns
- The beaches aren't dirty, they are actually clean and have some of the biggest waves I have ever seen
- People are really into sports, football, soccer, lax, etc.
- Lots of hot girls and a lot of ugly ones too.
- It does not smell. If you think it does you obviously have been on outskirts with lots of factories which doesn't smell that bad anyway.
- We have lots of pizza shops, bagel stores, and malls.
- Most people in Jersey have respect for New York and Pennsylvania. We aren't trying to compete with them, we enjoy there large cities and they enjoy our beaches, fare trade off.
- Trenton, Newark, Camden, and Patterson are considered "Ghetto". It doesn't mean you are going to get shot for walking it just means don't be retarded, say the n word, or start shit with people.
- Most people are either Philly Eagle Fans or NY Giants fan
- A lot of people move here for our schools (good public schools and private schools as well).
- We have; irish, jews, blacks, italians, mexicans, pueroricans, hindus, muslims etc. We are a very diverse state
- We are a Northeast state
- A lot of people here falsey stereotype the south as dumb. I realize that Southnern people are for the most part just as smart.
- There are some really good and bad drivers. Honestly the bad ones are Asians, Indians, Old people, and women.
- We are short tempered but funny people.
- We have some celeberties that were born here.
- Right now we have a population of about 10 million.
- We know we are small but we are STRONG
Example:
Jersey may not be the richest, or have the biggest cities but it's my home. I love it here and so will you if you give it a chance. No one says Joisey. From North Jersey, down to South, and back up again to Central we are strong. We love were we live and wouldn't trade it for the world.
MAD LOVE FOR NEW JERSEY, NYC, PHILLY, AND REST OF THE STATES.
DOESN'T MATTTER JUST REP WHERE YOU LIVE!

new jersey
ommon misconceptions:
#1: new jersey is an industrial dump
while its true we have industry, its only near the border, we keep the inside nice and awsome , the industry just keeps the evil newyorkers and pennsylvanians from getting in
#2: we say joisey
no, only new yorkers drop the "new" and forget the "r"
#3 we are all poor and ugly
wrong agian, new jersey is wealthy, and has some of the finest ass around,
Example:
man: oh your from new jersey, what exit? HAHAH

NJ dude:..... at least im smart enough to know how a car works

man: im gonna go run into a pole now

new jersey
A great place with mostly friendly people. South Jersey is lovely. Lots of expensive Housing developments. Lots of pretty little victortian towns too. Theres nothing like the Jersey Shore or Jersey Tomatoes! Lots of emo is from Jersey. Jersey has a good local punk scene, ive heard too.
Example:
Mmm Jersey Tomatoes.

new jersey
The greatest place in the entire continental United States. Everyone who doesn't like New Jersey is a communist. There, I said it. Contrary to popular opinion, it doesn't smell there at all, is cleaner than New York, and is home to some of the nicest people ever. Plus, we don't pump our own gas, bitches. Also, home to the most wiggers and emo kids. New York can have them both.
Example:
if you dont like jersey, fine, cuz we dont like you either
