someone whose compassion for all living beings even includes the folk who felt it was okay to malign veganism with slanderous and incorrect definitions. to practice veganism is to avoid to whatever degree possible all products which are made from flesh or contain animal by-products with the exception of those shared between humans with mutual consent ( human
breastmilk for example). most vegans also choose to buy organic foods manufactured by environmentally and socially responsible companies. to be vegan also means to embrace a lifestyle of compassion and
non-violence. many people confuse strict vegetarianism, which is only dietary, with true veganism which encompasses all facets of a lifestyle and includes
living your life with sense of the interconnectedness between all people, animals and our environment.
Example:
After reading John
Robbins book " Diet For A New America" and educating herself about the detrimental impact animal agriculture has on not only the lives of animals but also our oceans, lakes, rainforests,
topsoil, air quality and the health of human beings, Lisa made the very altruistic and
gutsy decision to become a vegan.

Somebody who, despite living an affluent lifestyle of
commercialism and consumption, thinks that they are making a positive impact on the planet as long as they eat
lentils instead of cheese. Vegans are almost always teenage girls who think that the natural world consists of harmless pink flowers and rainbows
and that there is no such thing as the food chain.
Example:
"
The vegan felt better about herself because she drove her gas-guzzling pollutionmobile ten miles down the road and back, killing countless airborne insects along the way, just to
top up on
soy milk"

b. "Um....did you know that the chicken in that sandwich you're eating was stuffed in a
cramped cage and not allowed to move? You need to become vegan, or at least vegetarian"
c. "PETA!!!!! ANIMALS

being vegan means that you do not consume any animal products including meat, eggs, diary, etc. or animal byproducts and do not wear any animal products like leather, wool, silk, etc.
and i just wanted to add in that not all
vegans are
nazi's we are all cool people and just because we are vegan does not mean that we dont like people who eat animals or use animal products. it is just our dietary choice we believe that you shouldn't eat or harm animals. i think it would be great to
see more vegans but most of us dont try to
push it on anyone. for example both my roommates eat meat and i am vegan and we get along great i respect their decision and they respect mine
Example:
john- hey man would you like some steak
vegan-no thanks man i am vegan,
thanks though
john-aw, sorry man, i bet that is hard i could never do it
vegan-no it really isn't that hard at all, you should just
give it a try, if you dont like it
dont do it. but it is healthier and it saves the animals
john- no thanks man i like meat too much.
vegan-oh its cool, its not for everyone i guess

A word that seems like it should
rhyme with
pagan, even though it does not.
For instance, you never hear of a vee-ge-ta-ri-an or a vee-ge-ta-ble, yet it's vee-gan.
Example:
My friend Megan is a vegan
pagan, flashin'
mo' bling than
Menachem Begin.
