A person (usually a medical or
law school student) who uses over 3 different colored
highlighters, tabs every page in their notebook, and raises their hand after every question asked by their professor, regardless of if they know the correct answer or not.
Gunners like to hear themselves speak. They use complicated words to make themselves sound smart even though they have no idea what's going on in class- they pretend they do. They are trying to intimidate you and eliminate competiton.
Example:
This
gunner in my
Chemistry class answers every question the professor asks, asked 5 questions during a 1hr class, and uses 8 different colored
highlighters.

In Canada and the United States, a "
gunner" is slang for a hyper-competitive student, usually a medical, nursing, legal, or dental.
Gunners will do whatever it takes to be the best. This ranges from working very hard to sabotaging peers. The
gunners are normally either concerned with getting into a professional school or excelling in the professional school to continue on to a specialty.
Example:
The top student in your class, anyone sitting in the
front row, anyone who uses a three colored
pen in university/college.
Gunner: *Gives correct answer no one else knew*
Average
college student: "Of course he/she knew the answer, he/she is such a 'Gunner'!"

A Gunner is usually a very competitive person. Most uses are in the context of a highly competitive and
sabotaging medical student.
For example, a medical student who claims he doesn't study and wants a non-competitive
speciality like internal medicine while he is preparing for plastic surgery.
Basically, someone working hard in the background.
Example:
Hey, did you study that
lecture? No? Don't listen to
Mohammed again it is
included in the final, he is such a Gunner!!

gunner is a man who is in jail or prison who starts to masturbate and/or ejaculate while non-inmates, guards or visitors walk by his cell. A gunner can also be seen in the background when you are talking to someone who is in jail via video
visitation.
