Originally meant "Place of the wild onion". Also called the city with the big shoulders, Chicago might be your kind of town like it was Frank Sinatra's. Then again it might not be your kind of town.

Truly one of the greatest cities in the entire nation. With a total population exceeding 2.9 million inside the city limits alone, multiple cultures and ethnicities, cool-sounding urban, midwestern nasal accents (see ear candy), a rich history, tons of museums, theaters, arcades, the Brookfield Zoo; the best pizza outside of New York City, and probably one of the best city skylines in the United States, Chicago has something to offer to everyone. It is a higher standard of a metropolis that all other American cities strive to be like(and many of them have succeeded in that: see Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta, DC, Denver, Omaha, and Seattle.

Great place with great: public transit, food, people, weather, police force, roads, community, schools, suburbs, sports teams, chicks, dudes, etc.

The city is commonly percieved as spread out between racial groups, but that's not really true...True, there are some sides of the city more ghetto than others but really its a pretty equal place all around, other than what I just mentioned.

It's better than NYC because people are nicer, food is better and the traffic is lighter, and it's not so much a "designer city" like NYC, if you know what I mean...No other city comes close.

Big city with a beautiful skyline. Although geographically placed in the Midwestern state of Illinois, it should be considered it's own state since the rest of the midwest is filled with drunk redneck republicans.

The city is first among the major dental and medical training centers in the United States. It is also home to the sprawling Illinois Medical District on the Near West Side, which includes Rush University Medical Center, the University of Illinois at Chicago medical center, and John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, the largest trauma-center in the city and the basis for the hospital in NBC's popular drama ER.

The American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, American Dental Association, and the American College of Surgeons are based in the city. The American Osteopathic Association is also located in Chicago.

The University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC is the largest medical school in the United States (1300 students, including those at campuses in Peoria, Rockford and Urbana-Champaign). Chicago is also home to a large number of nationally recognized medical schools. These include the above-mentioned University of Illinois medical school, Rush Medical College, the Pritzker School of Medicine of the University of Chicago, and the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. In addition, the Chicago Medical School and Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine are located in the suburbs of North Chicago and Maywood, respectively. The leading healthcare informatics organizations are located in Chicago, including the American Medical Informatics Association and the long-standing HIMSS Health Information Management Systems Society. A very impressive skyline, and home to many fortune 500 companies. Although parts of the city are impoverished, what city DOESN'T have places like that? The most expensive inland city in the US. Upscale areas by far dominate the low scale areas. One of the best cities in the country, and in the world. Extremely diverse, although many people believe Chicago is segregated still because of it's past. If you haven't been there before, please stfu like you actually know something.
