Reference to one of the best songs ever by Eminem called "Stan" about an Obsessed fan who ends up killing himself and his wife over Eminem not writing him back.Basically it describes someone who is all up on their favorite artist's schlong, and can't take criticism or the slightest negative about said artist. But instead of "fans", they're called "Stans", get it?

Usually toxic and likes to stand up for the person/group they are stanning. Always starts an argument when someone says something remotely bad about someone, just because it is not their opinion.
Example:
Oh hey they're a (insert celebrity name here) Stans

Don't say anything about (insert celebrity name here) then.

A reference to the Eminem song Stan. The song is about an overly obsessed fan (named Stan) who writes letters to eminem and ends up driving off a bridge with his pregnant wife, because Eminem didn't write him back.

The terms means a very very overzealous and obsessed fan of a celebrity/band/cast of a tvshow or movie.
Example:
Person 1: I just love Ariana Grande so much I would die for her I would track her every move if I could

Person 2: woah don't be such a stan

Based on the central character in the Eminem song of the same name, a "stan" is an overzealous maniacal fan for any celebrity or athlete.
Example:
A Typical Kobe Bryant Stan would say something like.
"Kobe Bryant scored 81 points last night. Kobe could beat God himself in a game of 1 on 1 hoops. To hell with Michael Jordan or Wilt Chamberlain, they arent on Kobe's level!"
