Cylon

Noun, plural. Singular: Cylon.A bio-mechanical race of workers developed in a distant part of the galaxy by humans not of terrestrial origin. Forced to work as slaves, the Cylons eventually turned on their creators and nearly destroyed them before a cease fire was called. The Cylons continued to evolve, and the latest versions are nearly identical to humans and may be able to mate and reproduce with them. Still angry about their past treatment, the Cylons have once again set out to destroy all humans everywhere.

Cyloning

When a computer microphone (Generally a USB headset microphone) begins to act strangely during an online conversation, generating unwanted audio artifacts such as an echo, or buzzing, causing the person using the microphone to sound like a Cylon. Cyloning can usually be fixed by simply unplugging the microphone and plugging it back in. The term was coined by tech journalist Leo Laporte

Originates from the show BIG BANG THEORY. The Cylons are a fictional race of robots and the arch-enemies of the humans in the TV show Battlestar Galactica.
In the new series of Battlestar Galactica two forms of Cylons appear - metal, robotic "Centurions" and human-looking "Skin jobs". Although some of the Cylons evolved into a humanoid form, they are condescendingly commonly referred to as "toasters" by the humans.
Sheldon owns a limited-edition toaster that imprints the head of a Cylon Centurion onto the bread. He attempts to make enough Cylon toast "to destroy all the human toasts on a Battlestar known as Galactica" in The Cornhusker Vortex. sheldon is a character in BIG BANG THEORY.
