A phrase commonly (and incorrectly) said in the place of the British exclamation "
pish tosh". It is used frequently by Americans who wish to sound fancy and cultured by
peppering their speech with random
British words. Of course, by saying this, they are only making themselves seem less intelligent.
Example:
John: Guess what? Yesterday, a meteor landed in my front yard!
Jim: Oh,
pish posh!
John: Sorry, but it's
pish tosh.
Jim: Uh, no it's not! I should know! After all, I've never been to England before but I have cable.
John: Oh, I forgot that you're a dumbass. Sorry, won't happen again.
Jim:
Pish posh!
John: *shoots self*
