A surreal dud, con or fraud.Probably the most famous Monty Python sketch. A customer returns to a pet shop where he was originally conned into buying a dead parrot.Regardless of the extremes the customer goes to prove the parrot is dead (he even whacks the dead bird off a hard surface) the seller insists the parrot is as still as alive as it was previous. Also known as the blue parrot sketch.

When a guy goes up behind another guy (or girl) that's sitting down and pulls out his dick and gently rests it on the sitting persons shoulder, thus creating a dead parrot.

Example:

When a lie or excuses is so blatantly ridiculous and unbelievable, the defendant has no choice but to stick to his/her absurd defense, disregarding all possible logic/laws of physics/obvious contradictions. Taken from the Monty Python dead parrot sketch in which a shop owner insists a clearly dead parrot is alive.

Example:
Tim got caught cheating on his girlfriend, but stuck to a dead parrot defense of she was an out of work actress and he was helping her with simulated sex scenes

2) In practice does the exact opposite to the title.

Could also be described as a dud, con, fraud or even surreal.

The term refers to a famous Monty Python sketch about a dead parrot.
