A word used within the context of something or some action that is obvious to all parties within the hearing zone. To clarify, the word should be announced with a douche undertone with the first syllable held out longer than the rest.

A filler word used repeatedly by individuals, like the words 'like' and 'stuff' or various curse words. Often times the speaker has no idea they are saying it until you bring it up. It is also a sign that the speaker isn't actively speaking and probably talking from the top of their head. This often makes them seem 'awkward' or 'unintelligent'. Ironically, often times these individuals are the smartest people we know...
Example:

A peculiar phenomenon with millennials who all think every other person in the world is an utter imbecile so they start every explanation of anything, even the most simple concept that all previous young adults of previous generations grasped easily before finishing primary/elementary school (e.g. saying 'Basically if you add 2 to 2, you will get four. Basically'"

This immediately makes anyone (usually older but there is hope too for the children younger than millennials) with half a brain think the speaker is a patronising moron and stop listening to said idiot who assumes and is insinuating that everyone else on the planet is an idiot but only makes him or herself an idiot in the process by saying "basically" all the time.

"Basically" should only be used by people who actually have studied something to expert level e.g. advanced physics, mathematics, language, history.
Example:
"Basically, if you add 2 to 2, you will get 4. Basically."

This is the word you use when you want to explain something but don't actually have any depth of knowledge. Just say 'basically' a whole bunch and everyone will still think you're super smart and thank you for shielding them from potentially complex concepts.
Example:
You: Sure I can explain nuclear fission. You basically have like neutrons and electrons and whatever and they basically go buckwild on each other and that make heat
