punk pop

1. Music blown from someone's ass 2. Losers who think they're hard core but are just little pussys

pop punk
oh my god. its just a genre of music. get over it.

get over the fact that the name is an oxymoron. maybe it was supposed to be that way.

get over the fact that you dont think its cool, other people do.

not all people who listen to it think they're being punk. SOME people listen to music because they think it sounds good, not because theyre trying to represent something.

all of the people trying to steer people who like pop punk in another direction should stop. pop punk is just an alternative to punk. nobody cares if you think its good. let people make their music. dont listen to it if you dont want to.
Example:
any bands who consider themselves pop punk.

pop punk
Nobody here has once said that Pop-Punk usually involves harmonies, and being creative with different progressions. The only reason the word "Pop" is in front of punk, is because melodies are a lot more structured and clearer. It's just music that is easy on the ears, and usually talks about love, failure, and life. Much like the golden 50's, Pop-Punk is the equivelent to doo-wop bands like the early Beatles and The temptations. Though there can be many bad Pop-punk bands who sing about going to school and riding skateboards, it is just a form of music for the youth. I just say that back in the day, it was ok to sing about love, but what happened?
Example:
Kid 1:I really enjoy these Pop Punk bands.
Kid2: I know! Those 3 part harmonies are ridiculous!

pop punk
you people are mixing up mall punk and pop punk. pop punk should be called "buzz pop", because when using a term like "pop punk", the real pop punk kids must constantly defend their bands by saying "it's pop punk, but not that shit on MTV." look at lookout records circa 1996-oh, forgot about the queers, screeching weasel, groovie ghoulies, riverdales..all that shit, didnt you? what would you classify that as? those bands are certainly NOT in the same boat as good charlotte and sum 41. i'm not even going to attempt to define "punk rock", because it's annoyingly controversial and no matter how hard you try, people are always going to have different definitions for it. whatever. however, "pop punk", to me, is just simple 3 chord songs pop songs, mostly ramones influenced, faster paced then most regular pop songs, about whatever. shit that doesnt matter. fun. girls. heartache. beer. whatever. its supposed to be fun. i hate when shit is all serious. this is lame. bye.
Example:
the queers, screeching weasel, riverdales, apers, riff randells, parasites, mr. t. experience, lillingtons, excessories, flipsides, ruth's hat, teen sensation glasses, after school special, and the entire mutant pop records catalog, for starters.

pop-punk
Pop punk music is usually more melodic and cleaner-sounding than the original punk rock music. Bands such as New Found Glory, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, Simple Plan and Fall Out Boy have refined pop punk into a form which stresses strong melody and varied rhythms. Lyrics would prety much be the same the only difference would be in the style of singing and also the music. PUNK rockers would tend to sing at a much fatster pace whereas POP-PUNK rockers are melodic and would tend to be slow and much more clearer.

***** One more very important thing, please DONOT listen to all these people in here trying to tell what Pop-Punk genre is all about as most of them donot know shyt about PUNK. They consider Bad Religion & NOFX Pop-Punk. I mean they are the Godfathers of hardcore PUNK ROCK and even a deaf person can tell they are most certainly not POP-PUNK. I had a good laugh when these so called 'smart people' tried to categorize NOFX and Bad Religion into Pop-Punk. Go listen to them first and then decide for yourself.
Example:
Bands like New Found Glory, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, Simple Plan and Fall Out Boy are POP-PUNK.

Bands like NOFX, Bad Religion, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Sham69 and Rancid are all PUNK.

Pop-punk
A style of rock characterized by a fast tempo, melodic vocals, and "juvenile" subject matter (although some later pop punk delves into deeper lyrical topics). The style was formed in the late 80's when bands began combining an early punk guitar style and lyrics with cleaner vocals, two and three part harmonies, and prominent hooks. This style is much more melodic, but still high energy and sometimes moshable. Depending on the subgenre, bands can exhibit varying degrees of hardcore punk, emo, and post-hardcore influences as well. Pop punk bands such as Green Day and Blink-182 went on to develop more alternative influenced sounds with their later albums, while bands like All Time Low nearly abandoned the punk aspect of the music, instead going for a more pop-based, radio-friendly sound.
Example:
Fan #1: "Hey, did you hear about that pop-punk show going on tonight?"

Fan #2: "Yeah man, let's go skate around outside the venue and then pogo to some sweet tunes!"

pop punk
pop punk is a style of music that combines the fast-paced rock rhythms of punk, and catchy hooks and melodies of pop. YES, bands like bowling for soup, fall out boy, relient k are considered pop punk. they have fast punk rhythms of normally 3-4 chords, but have catchy pop melodies. If you're going to say that pop punk isn't true punk, the ramones (the first punk band) had catchy fun light-hearted songs. Then the sex pistols came in and turned it into a political thing. pop punk is NOT powerpop (the click five, we the kings, boys like girls, etc.) people who listen to pop punk often appreciate the catchy melodies over the faced paced punk riffs.
Example:
Pop Punk - Blink 182, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Simple Plan, Bowling For Soup, All Time Low (before dirty work), Relient K, Green Day (later), Motion City Soundtrack, Fall Out Boy, FM Static, etc.

Pop Punk
The best fucking music.

It's not dead.
Defend it.

When people hear pop punk they for some reason only think of Green day, meanwhile pop punk is it's own scene and even though theyhave contributed to it, they aren't it.

Pop punk a genre mostly for the young. For those kids who know they don't fit in.

Think New Found Glory. Blink 182. The Wonder Years. Man Overboard. Major League. Such Gold. Title Fight. This Time Next Year. Four Year Strong. I Call Fives. Tigers Jaw. And a fuckload more.

Pop punk can lean towards having a more hardcore sound and to being much more easycore.

Pop punk is a family.
Example:
"My favorite pop punk band has gotta be The Wonder Years."

Defend pop punk.

"Pop punk changed my life. I'm not sad anymore because of it.

Pop-punk
Well, "pop-punk", is a type of music that is dying right now, this is because there are many bands such as "son on dork" and mcfly who are trying to push their way into this discription. It is a catchy type of generic rock which produces huge record sales, so is very lucrtive to endorse. Usually three or four band memebers, two on vocals. Target audience 10 - 25 year olds. Uses simple but very effective riffs and chord combos. Feel good music. Summer music. from a broad prospective it can offend people who like slightly heavier music. this genre was created when punk rock was split into many different and new catagories in the late 90's. Usually the listeners and members of bands use toilet humer and sex jokes, this can be very funny at times, but now in 2006 has been milked and milked. Although many will be sad to see pop-punk bands starrt to disapear, it is a inevitable fact. soza guys.

Written bye Sam.
Example:
Pop-punk examples

Ex 1) Tom - "never eat dog seamen, its the number one cause of um, bad breath"

Ex 2) Mark - you know what?
Tom - "never attack someone that shits on them self"
