Long ago, this site was site was born as an anime forum. It was a place for horny dweebs to post boobs and hentai.

But then, everything changed. Hackers, pedos, trolls, and political extremists of every flavor began to use this site as their HQ. They would attack, hack, and troll anyone who dared stood against their empire of nightmares and filth. It was truly the bane of the internet.

At the same time however, many memes, franchises, and movements were born here. The alt right, Wojacks, God knows how many 2010’s and 2000’s memes, SCP, Qanon, The Backrooms, Trollface, and modern weeb culture all have their roots here.

We all may hate it, but it undeniably helped In pioneering the birth of internet culture as we know it, It has affected real world events, and it has irreversibly shaped many people’s lives, directly or otherwise.

Nowadays, it’s come full circle. With horny dweebs posting boobs and hentai being it’s main demographic again. Although it has never truly returned to its late 2000’s to early 2010’s prime.

4chan users have invented their own language in an attempt to create a psuedo-culture, much in the same vein as the emo, and the lolcats people. You will typically see words like "Moar" and "newfag" plastered across the boards. Whilst those of us looking objectively at 4chan might think "Stop slaughtering the English language you illiterate fuckhole", such words are apparently used to communicate within this E-community.

Many users of 4chan are passionately defensive about the website, and often praise it as a tight knit global community and place for people to communicate whatever they want, uncensored. Others see it as a chaotic cesspit where people with no personality or ideals can vent uncreative cynicism and pretend they're clever.

The source of all that is evil and wrong on the Internet.

If you've ever seen something on the Internet that made you contemplate suicide (or snap and become a serial killer), it probably came from 4chan--and even if it didn't, you can be sure someone posted it there at some point... and people there LIKED it.

An image forum that is, decidedly, outside the realms of good taste (but proudly so). 4chan has generated its own sense of humour that others do not understand or indeed appreciate. Frequenters of the site are typically prouder of it than it deserves, as evidenced by urban dictionary's top-rated answer.
