The North also has a much stronger economy, based on both manufacturing and "clean" industries (pharmaceuticals/software), insurance and banking companies, and a little bit of agriculture.
As animosity still remains from the American Civil War, a lot of Southerners despise Northerners, calling them "damyankees", and some in the southern Midwest they call "traitors", for being pro-Union and much less into the redneck culture. The North has always been a successful, prosperous region with diverse people, places, industries, and forms of entertainment. The North continues to thrive and grow today as well.

A place where people think they are more educated than southern people, and feel that just because they have a larger population they are a higher class people.Most of the north is completely liberal and think that being a queer is okay and that you should have a parade if you are.It's also a place where most people lack morales and believe killing innocent babies is a person's choice.And the only hopeful thing to come out of the North is Rudolph Giuliani.

Any logical person would see that the Ohio River is the true diver between the North and South. Hell I don't know why you even want to be Midwestern for THEY DON'T EXCEPT US AS THEIR REGION unlike the South. HEll they don't even want to claim the SOuthern region of their state that touches Kentucky, because it's so much more Southern than Midwestern. Even back during the Civil War Lincoln feared that he would have to fight off Southern Il, IN, And OH because they had such a Southern bond with a Southern state Kentucky. If you have ever seen the PBS speacial "Do You Speak American" "Southern Addition" the narrator was sailing on a boat in the Ohio River to emphasize that the Southern accent not only ingulfs Kentucky but even extends across the River into Southern Indiana,Illinois, and Ohio.
