You stupid americans are all wrong. Bloke is simply a British slang term for 'man/guy', with perhaps slight connotations of masculinity, and used only in an informal setting. Unlike 'guy' it is not normally used vocatively, as in 'hey you blokes'.
Example:
'I met this bloke in town who told me to stop wasting my time on the internet...'

Bloke: an informal English word for man, similar to chap, guy, feller/fella/fellow,geezer.
Often thought of as an Australian word as it is commonly used over there. The Aussie Bloke is a stereotype of a typical Australian Man, i.e. loves sport, beer, bbq's.
It's used in UK and Aus. in the same way guy and dude are used in America

According to a local newspaper in the Midlands, the word originated in the Black country (an area near Birmingham, UK), but I'm really not sure how much truth is in that!
Example:
'Look at that fat bloke over there!'
'Right, what are you blokes drinking?'

Typically, "man" or "guy". It's origins are unknown, but it is unlikely to have come from the the Midlands in the UK, as suggested by one user. It is used commonly in the UK and Australia, although it has usage in Canada and the USA too.

It's earliest recorded usage was in Cab Calloway's 1931 recording 'Minnie The Moocher' where he sings "She messed around with a bloke named smokey, she loved him..." It has been used more frequently in Kanye West's collaboration with the UK's Estelle

1) I met a bloke in the pub
2) That bloke is pissed
3) Watch that bloke over there
4) That man's really blokey

The British/Australian equivalent of the American dude. Just as dude is sterotyped as a word for stoners, bloke has tough guy connotations.

In reality, they'reb oth just pronouns for a person.
Example:
Brit: Look at those drunk blokes pissing behind that pub!

I see their are some Americans I suspect of French or Ukranian origin on this site who have a grudge against the British. For your information the word 'bloke' is similar to the American 'dude' except that it is more symbolic of a regular guy. In other words it's connotation is not as gay as 'dude'.
Example:
Some bloke picked a fight with us on the street yesterday.

Australian slang for a male. However, more specifically refers to the stereotypical view of a typical Australian man. The average bloke has a beer gut, a thick, bushy, stubble beard and very short hair, as to not have his masculinity questioned. He is homophobic, lazy, overweight, crude and finds nothing more humorous than toilet humour. He spends most of his time watching cricket or football or going on fishing trips with his mates. He will make sure any male children he has are playing sport at a very young age and teach them that feelings are only for women and ‘faggots.’ Any female children he has will get much less attention then their brother/s. He will also show little to no affection for his wife beyond a sexual manner, in case this is interpreted as being ‘gay.’ He is usually, but not always, some form of tradesmen such as a plumber or builder.
Example:
Sally: Henry used to be so sweet. Now he just sits on the couch drinking beer and watching sport all day.

Julie: Mark is exactly the same. I’ll never understand blokes.

OR

Chuck: Jay, I can’t believe Stacy dumped you for Max. All he does is get drunk and talk about football.

Jay: I know! I was dumped for a bloke!
