mp4

An mp4 (MPEG-4) is a file format which can contain audio and/or video. They are smaller and of higher quaility than mp3's and absorb many of the features of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 adding additional 3D rendering and advanced interactivity. Overall mp4's are good but unfortunately it seems that very few people know what they are and even fewer people know what they do. I've heard others describe them as "downloaded videos",this is a fairly good description allthough they have other uses beyond being downloaded.

A newer compression codec better than mp3 which is over 10 years old. Mp4 can contain audio and/or video data. Music encoded in mp4 is a higher quality than mp3 because the mp4 codec loses less of the original source. Mp4's are also smaller than mp3's. Higher compression, better quality, smaller files: its amazing that no one has heard of mp4.

The thing that's better than all those Ipods and whatnot. All the big companies start buying them from Chinese sites like Uxcell and Chinavasion. Like Samsung Touch is just a $30 Mp4 player with a Samsung logo inscribed in it. Mp4 players are very nice and are much cheaper than Ipods, they can also do more.

McLaren MP4-12C

A new McLaren hypercar that has the weirdest name ever. Coming out in 2011, the car has a carbon-fiber chasis and has an engine made by McLaren themselves unlike the last 2 cars they had (SLR and F1).

It will have a twin turbo 3.8litre V8 managing to get out 592 BHP from it and it will have some Formula 1 tech in it.

Dual clutch and obviously a flappy paddle gearbox.

The MP4 stands for McLaren Project 4, the chassis designation for all McLaren Formula 1 cars since 1981

The '12' refers to McLaren's internal Vehicle Performance Index through which it rates key performance criteria both for competitors and for its own cars.

And C is for Carbon since the car is mostly build out of, carbon fiber.

The McLaren MP4-12C might not have the highest top speed, but it will surely wreck a Veyron in a proper track.

a codec that is 21 years old and is outdated, however. i can still handle 8k somehow.

the iPhone 4 dosen't use .mp4 it uses h.264
Example:
