Fair-weather
Applied to someone who is present only when things are going well or when they need something, but at the first sign of trouble/hardship, they disappear faster than
Brittney Spears's career In sports, the term is often confused with a bandwagoner, but unlike bandwagon fans, a
fair weather fan initially has some interest in the team, but they want nothing to do with them when tough times occur. As soon as the team starts to turn things around and starts winning, they act as if they been there through thick and thin.A
fair weather friend is more of an associate/acquaintance. They aren't truly your friend, but you talk to them enough to somewhat know them personally. They act nice to you when they need something, but as soon as you need them to return the favor, they are nowhere to be found. A true friend is there for you no matter what. This term can be applied to anything in life, but these are the most common.

A fan that only supports their team when it is winning, or only likes a team because it is popular or successful. Apt to jump on and off
the bandwagon as their team
has it's ups and downs. They ultimately often do not care too much
for the team.

Example:
A fair weather friend would
act like they want to
hang out but never
invite you to do anything and if you invite them to do something they will only do it if they cant find something better.
Fair Weather Fan

A fan of a sports team who only shows support when the team is
doing well. During hard times they usually
bandwagon other teams. They basically have no real loyalty to the team, but still manage to get better seats than you at the game. Strangely they mysteriously
vanish at the first sign of trouble.
Example:
Fair weather fan: "OMG
what a comeback! That was amazing!"
Regular fan: "How would you know? You left right when Favre threw the pick six in the 2nd and if I recall you didn't even start rooting for Green Bay until 2 weeks ago."
Fair weather fan: "... GO PACK!"
(After the playoff game the
fair weather fan immediately became a Pats fan and stowed all Packer memorabilia away.)
Fair Weather Fan's creed:
Last to join, first to leave.

A friend who is only a friend when circumstances are pleasant or
profitable. At the first sign of trouble, these
capricious,
disloyal friends will drop their relationship with you.
