Gender identity disorder
Gender identity disorder is defined as a disorder in which an individual believes they are a gender not assigned to them at birth based on their genitalia. Believing something to be
true that is proven not to be is considered a
delusion. Individuals with
gender identity disorder should receive therapy and care to treat their disorder as one would treat any other disorder: with compassion, patience, and respect. Not surgery.
