The most misdefined word in the urban dictionary. It is simply the "BLAME" Teaching responsibility is easy if you do not complicate it. Taking responsibility is taking the "BLAME". Jesus was not responsible for all of our mistakes and yet he took the BLAME. Stop treating this word as a good trait because it is only good for those predestined to be the "SCAPEGOAT" Responsibility is something we can only accept not force on others without evidence that they are guilty. If the boss notices something good has been done and wishes to know who did it. He/She would ask "who gets the CREDIT". It is only after mistakes are discovered that we ask "who is RESPONSIBLE"? I pray that the editors recognize the logic and truth in this definition and give it the "CREDIT" it deserves.
Example:
Responsibility should be avoided unless you know the risk and are willing to take the blame for failing. Opportunity hides inside this risk, for if you succeed you will get "CREDIT" for success and dodge the 'BLAME" for failure.

Example:
I hate taking responsibility for accidents. It's not my fault that something I have no control over happened. If it was completely under my control and it happened, that would be one thing. Something you have no control over is a different story to me.

A word often overused by political leaders when they or their subordinates have been negligient in their decision making, but don't actually carry out part or any of the full definition of the word.
Example:
President Bush says he "takes full responsibility for the mistakes in tactics that have failed to secure the safety of Baghdad". However, the guy is still president!

They say it is because they don't want to let you down or hurt you;
but it's because they don't have the maturity to step up and
to be accountable to someone else. Usualy it is because they are self-absorbed and don't have their own shit together, so they use your feelings as an excuse.
Example:
Joe:" Hey, would you like to go out, or do you have a boyfriend?"
Missy:"I am seeing someone-kinda."
Joe: "It sounds like the dude can't handle responsibility."

My "civic responsibility" is covered by the existence fee I pay every time I make money or spend money. If not, then what am I paying for?

I have a civic responsibility to make things better for people who refuse to even acknowledge my existence? Aside from the shrink, a senator is the last fucking person on the planet to be doing that in from of millions of people. You whole class, your entire upper echelon of society is just millionaires paying millionaires to continue being millionaires. And the barrier to entry? Arbitrary. People being denied due process and not being elevated based on merit? What are you doing about any of that? Nothing. What am I getting in exchange for my taxpayer dollars other than told to shut up and go fuck myself? Work at a fucking church. For all I know, the church is stealing my fucking ideas too! I don't know that I'm not already working for the church. Quit being a contrarian and work at a church."

Example:
The liberals say that society has to take responsibility for wiping the bum's nose, because he is not responsible for himself. This misses the point that he is a bum BECAUSE he refused to take responsibility.
