A deragotry term for an African-American who is presumed to have rejected the values and traditions of their race and ethnicity, and instead has adopted the norms of dominant European-American culture. The characteristics of one defined as "oreo" are nebulous in that many can be attributed to existing African-American culture, or the culture of recent African immigrants. Some cite higher education status, middle-class and upper-class income, and conservative dress as means of identifying "an oreo." The main assumption is that this person has rejected African-American racial identity. The irony is that African-American rights activists, clergy, academic researchers on racial identity, and teachers could fit the "oreo" sterotype, if one is to base this term on higher socioeconomic class and all that comes with it. Few would argue that African-Americans in the aforementioned fields are "oreos."

1)A stereotype created by blacks to be used for other blacks who are "black on the outside, white on the inside". Black being their skin color, and white meaning to display characteristics of a "white" person, therefore "betraying their black roots".

These characteristics being (but not limited to), raised in an environment that's NOT the projects, speaking proper english/very limited use of slang, having an eclectic taste in music, having a diverse group of friends, being well-educated, being legitimately employed, not abusing the welfare system, being well-mannered and civilized, saves money for college instead of bling and cheap grills, and wearing nice clothes that are not Roca Wear, Sean Jean, Baby Phat and so on.

Most blacks confuse the "oreo" stereotype to being "bourgie", which is a very rude, stuck-up black, who thinks they are more "high-class" than they really are.

This stereotype is stupid, and apparently stems from the fear most nigg3rs have of success. Blacks believe that unless you are a talentless rapper, a professional athlete, or "gangsta", it is impossible to be successful without being an "oreo".

A black person who is said to "act white" because of the way they dress, talk, or act. Someone who does not play in to "acting black" and believes that there is no way to "act black". Someone who typically hangs out with whites, or gets along well with whites.

Sometimes blacks take being called an oreo as an offense, but others might take it as being called a "classy black", someone who did not grow up in the projects so has no particular reason to be someone they aren't in order to fit in well with the black community.

1)An immature saying by black and white people (usually black people) who say that a black kid who doesn't wear fubu, or other gangster clothes but wear Abercrombie & Fitch, or A.E e.c.or listen to rock music or speak proper and not like a sensless idiot is white. Even though despite that nobody died and said "Well black people should wear this, act like this, listen to this e.c."

A dark skinned person who displays characteristics of a white person. Oreo's are usually found listening to rock, and doing things that aren't usually classified as "black". They speak using proper grammar and think racism sucks. Most of them are proud of their heritage but choose not to act as stupid as some of their peers. They normally grew up in and environment that is predominately white.
