Many other defs will try and convince you that this city is trying to emulate Seattle. Let's take a minute to think about how retarded that statement is. A city is not a living thing; it has no concept of popularity. It's hard to see how the city of Portland can make a conscious effort to "copy off of" Seattle. Portland is an awesome place. You can get everything you need from the urban lifestyle, but it still has all the comforts of living somewhere really familiar. Indie music capital of the nation, which makes it about fifty times cooler than Seattle right there. The people are totally chill and friendly, accepting, and hospitable. The greatest city on earth.

Portland is a beautiful city, with a diverse and interesting population. It stands out from the rest of Oregon, by being the only area where conservatives are a minority.
Street performers, the homeless, art, and Marijuana are abundant in this unique city.
Portland has two sports teams, the Trail Blazers (Basketball) and the Lumberjacks (Lacrosse). Although I heard they were getting a quiddich team... Joking.

Think Seattle without the canyon's of skyscraper's. Portland has the same population as Seattle, BY FAR way more crime then Seattle. It's a dirty city with a high poverty level. Downtown, Inner Northeast, and North Portland area's are full of thug's, gangbanger's, drug dealer's and are predominatly Black and Hispanic.

Portland is currently undergoing one of the most major highrise progect's in the northwest called the "North Macadam" which is 409 acres of undeveloped property in which will be built hundred's of skyscraper's and condo's. People who say Portland is a wannabe seattle are misguided. They normally think Portland is just downtown while it actually expands about 15 mile's east of downtown. Portland's overall land size is approximately 3 time's as big as Seattle's. Seattle's land is approx. 47 sq. mile's, while Portland's land is approx. 134 sq. mile's.

Rain, hipsters, unchecked homeless drug addicts, entitled white people policing other entitled white people, bad attitudes resulting from personal choices, and the wonderful clout-driven pissing contest that is the local music scene.

The greatest fucking city in the United States. There aren't any jobs there, but the people, parks, coffee, indie music, proximity to excellent hydroponic weed and general vibe of the place make up for it. I can't believe I left and am going back as soon as possible.

A city full of rich hip kids heavy in the indie new age liberal hipster movement coming out of mom and dads basementand funded by their wallets. There is literally so much white guilt in this town you can spread it on a bagel like cream cheese. Also a great place to get some coffee, followed by finding a dead heroin addict in a starbucks bathroom. Portland also has one of the greatest collection of hobo communities. You can't walk through down town without giving out 5 dollars in change, 12 cigarettes and also recieve some new trash ip from one of the above mentioned hipsters. Also do not talk to anyone.
