Post-Rock
A style of music conceived after Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart had passionate, time traveling, inanimate sex with classic Rock albums from Bands ranging from ACDC to Lynyrd Skynyrd. The resulting child has guitar riffs that make
Hellen Keller listen again, songs that
speak volumes without saying a word, and (If you listen with your eyes closed) the music will give a high so high that you can throw piss bombs on Stealth Bombers as you experience an eargasm so profound that your mind will be blow, reformed, then blown again. In other words: Post-Rock is the musical equal to a
Chuck Norris Roundhouse Kick to the unprotected groin.

In some cases referred to as
space rock, a genre of music combining styles of prog, ambient rock, indie, experimental, jazz, psychadelia, and some classical. Often utilizing large bands with diverse instruments including brass, chimes, strings, synthesizers, assorted percussion, and winds, many post-rock bands create a very mellow, atmospheric style of music, often climaxing and making use of tonic/dominant/
subdominant patterns in classical music and heavily textured sonic layers. Elements of poetry and science fiction are also often
incorperated.

Post rock is a genre of rock music coined by British music Simon
Reynold as "using rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes, using guitars as facilitators of timbres and textures rather than riffs and powerchords."
Post Rock will often times be built like classical music with different movements and emphasis on musical composition and dynamic movements. Common instruments used by
post rock bands are guitars and basses as well as drums, auxillary percussion, string instruments, pianos, and even bagpipes and the occasional tape loop run through the record.

Music inspired by the MOR soundtrack albums of the mid-1980s, as typified by artists such as Kenny Loggins, Jan Hammer, Billy Ocean, and
Glenn Frey. Similar to Yacht Rock, but open to a wider range of musical influences.
Post-yacht rock often incorporates elements of hard rock, smooth jazz, synth pop, calypso, soft rock, reggae, and arena rock. Post-yacht rock is typified by musicians who unironically embrace the sound of Kenny Loggins' "
Highway to the Danger Zone." It is especially popular among college students who grew up listening to cover songs performed on reality competition TV shows.
Post Modern Rock

A genre of music, really a supergenre, encompassing many other genres including indie rock, indiepop, twee, britpop,
shoegazer, electronic, electro, glitchpop, some singer/songwriter, lo-fi, and older genres including punk, new wave and
Madchester. Former terms were "Modern Rock" or "Alternative," but these became obsolete when their meaning was corroded circa 1992. They then became used to describe corporate
nu-rock.
Example:
Record store clerk 1: "So, I listen to a lot of bands. Like, Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, Ballboy, Doves, My Bloody Valentine,
Royksopp, Adult.,
Lali Puna, Denison
Witmer, Daniel Johnston, The Ramones, The Clash, Talking Heads, New Order and Primal Scream, just to name a few. I feel like it's all one supergenre, but I don't know what you call it."
Record store clerk 2: "You'd call that Post Modern Rock."
