Bay View-Hunter's Point is a district of San Francisco. When the Navy closed the
Shipyard, the site of the first
dry-dock on the West Coast, it also cut the jobs that came with it and the reason that so many people moved to the area from the South. As jobs left, crime rose, and now this is one of the worst neighborhood of the city. Although it is turning around slowly and people who live there say it's not as bad as it was 10 years ago. New apartments are being built and
MUNI (public transport) service being extended. The area is far from posh, but is one of the few place in the city where you could buy a house for under a million dollars.
