Basically, it is to "get back" at someone for something they did to you

Revenge is a lot like Gazpacho - it is a dish best served cold!!!
Example:
If some one slaps you around the head and you, in return, break their legs, then that is known as revenge

When you trick a seemingly innocent girl into letting you have anal sex with her, and you return from the bathroom to find that she's gone and has taken a huge shit in the middle of your bed.

Sometimes, if she was super pissed about it, she takes the dump in your drawer and you don't find it for a few days.
Example:
Biff: "Hey Floyd - that stupid slut you hooked me up with last night. Yeah, uh, I don't know how to tell you this, but she crapped in my bed."

Floyd: "Uh...what do you mean?"

Biff: "Are you retarded? I fucked Leona in the ass, and then when I went to wash my cock off she took a massive crap in my bed. Those sheets will never be the same. Corn and peas. NA-A-STY!

Floyd: "Corn AND peas? That is fucking rotten. I mean, if it was only corn I could see-"

Biff: "Shut up you asshole. Listen, you're not going to tell ANYONE about this. I'll beat your ass if you do. But seriously, that bitch got pretty hard revenge on me. Being at an awesome pool party with the girl of your dreams, then leaving her for a while, only to see her wading in the pool with another guy.

Seeing that, you decide to mingle with other girls in hopes that she will notice you, but you end up hitting on the wrong woman - the fiancee of a war freak.

You then end up with a chair thrown to your face.

And the worst part? You dreamgirl was just talking to a family friend the whole time.
Example:
Ian: "Hey Jed, who's that guy Jessica is talking to in the pool?"

Jed: "I don't recognize him. I think he might be hitting on her."

Ian: "What the hell, man. I gotta take revenge on her now. Let's see, who else here looks as good as her?"

*hits on an ugly girl then gets a chair thrown to his face*

Jessica: "Ian are you alright?? What happened??"

Ian: "You were hitting on that guy in the pool."

Jessica: "Oh, the celebrant's cousin? He's a good friend of mine! We were just talking about you, actually."

Ian: "Oh fucker."

Revenge is usually seen as getting back at someone for something they did to you in the past.

It is usually "settling the scores", "getting even", but in most cases it involves getting a bit ahead, adding more, etc..

If someone slaps you in 1991.. You beat the crap out of him in 2001.. It's kinda like that..

Some people see it as too much and seek revenge by not doing anything to that person, but simply getting rich, famous, popular, influential while the other person is an alcoholic bum on the street and rubbing it on him directly on directly.

They say revenge is sweet.
Example:
"Revenge is the syrup of our lives" - Ken Muslimovic.

the BEST feeling in the world. better than love and sex combined. to feel good about yourself and taking pleasure of the opponents suffering. usually by getting back at someone who has harmed you in the past. can be mentally or physically, or both.
Example:
victim: oh no, i have been beaten
enemy: har har har

victim: ah ha! i am better than you and having a fun life, time to let my buddies beat to beat you up, revenge is mine!

enemy: oh no, im emotionally unstable and my life sucks and now even worse, the dude i beat up long ago and hated has brought his buddies to beat me up aieeee!!!!
