When somebody lives in a small village, or small town and wants to describe where they live. A town-town is a major town, that most people would know, like Hastings instead or Battle or Crowhurst, which most people would have no idea where they were.

oakland california is referred to as, "the Town." San Francisco is AKA "The City." Just more of that yay area slanguagisticolics mayne. yadadamean.

in the bay, the town is another name for the city of oakland. some people from east palo alto(epa) say that epa is the town. but when people say "the town" out here, most of the time, theyre talkin about oakland.

A nickname used in reference to Oakland, California. Founded in 1852, The Town is the eighth-largest city in the U.S., but what makes it stand out amongst other American cities is its diverse communities,distinct neighborhoods and turfs, and its culturally rich activities such as Sydeshows, Going 18 Dummy and the historically significant Pimp Game.
