Anime nerds come in all different types. There isn't just one way you can group them.
I am an anime nerd, yes. But that doesn't mean that I insert random Japanese words into my sentences, pretend to be Japanese, and I certainly am able to talk about something BESIDES anime.

You see, there are sensible anime fans out there. You just have to look. Sometimes, you won't even know somebody likes it because they never talk about it. We're not all obnoxious and we don't throw a tantrum when people say they don't like anime.

Please don't group us all into the stereotype being that we're all creepy and stupid. Try to get to know us a little before you decide one anime fan is just like another.

A person who likes anime, manga, or any of the Japanese related animations to a greater or lesser degree.

Anime tends to mainly attract a certain personality, and those personalities can be considered childish and/or obsessed by outsiders. However, personalities of these fans can be anything from the stereotypical cosplayer who sneaks random Japanese phrases into everyday speech with the Inuyasha tattoo, to the straight laced professor who you took for Econ 1 in college.

usually influenced at a young age by older anime such as pokemon, sailor moon, card captor sakura, and yugioh. (your average popular high school student probably watched two or three of these as a child. they grew up to become obsessed with society's opinions.) an anime nerd is simply someone who doesn't give a shit what other people think and has not lost sight of their inner child. their appearance can range from ugly to the most beautiful girl/guy you have ever seen. they have respect for the art form that is anime. once or twice a year they may spend their time at an anime convention making money or having fun (meeting new people, hanging out with friends, etc.). an anime nerd knows how to enjoy life (unlike some people). an anime nerd could be the person living next door. they could be the bag boy/girl at your grocery store. they could be your high school english teacher. they could be the man/woman you married twenty years ago.

remember, nerds are people too. and the majority of them have lives others are too stupid to accept. haven't you ever heard "don't judge a book by its cover"?

Well, a lot of people like to classify anime nerds.
The truth is, anime nerds don't need to be classified.
Your average nerd likes to read manga, watch anime (Japanese cartoons), and converse about it.
There's also a possibility he/she likes to cosplay, which isn't shameful in the slightest. Those who criticize extensively should probably be studying.
Do anime nerds care about your opinion? Probably not.

a category of nerds who are highly interested in anime and often anything related to japan. They usually have average or below average intelligence (although often like to think of themselves as being smarter than the average person) . They normally wear large, ill-fitted, and either baggy or too-tight clothes. They will often have unkempt and messy appearances, with alot of acne blemishes and scraggly hair and will often wear their japanese/anime themed t-shirts far too often from a hygienic perespective . Many of them are overweight or have bad posture. They often use/butcher japanese words like "kawai!!". They like to draw pictures of their anime heroes in grubby little sketch pads.Their pathetic lives scarcely resemble the heroic and inspirational existence of the anime heroes that they so devotedly worship.

My ex boyfriend was an anime nerd. I fucking hate these people! They are obsessed with anime, and all they talk about is anime. They remind you of 12 year olds and if you date them you feel like a pedophile! Their IQ's are often average or below average, but they have this idea that they are superior to everyone else in every way, but they are completely pathetic! They usually have messy hair, try to look cool by wearing punk style hoodies, or they will listen to angry music if they don't listen to techno to try to be cool. A lot of times they will have terrible achne! For all those who enjoy The Simpsons anime nerds are a mix between Professor Frink and Comic Book Guy!

A person that loves anime and spends all his time watching anime to escape the cruel thing called the reality. These people are usually very quiet, shy and unsocial, avoiding people as much as possible and most likely have great personality and intelligence on the inside. Also they don't care what people say or think. So if you know some like this, Accept them as who they are and because they are usually good people.

People, often adults in their 20s and 30s (age-wise, their biology still often resembles that of a prepubescent 12 year-old), who are overly obsessed with Anime.

Out of all nerds, they are by far the most annoying. They always talk about how Japan is the best culture and country in the world (how I wished they all moved there), and often speak in Japanese as though it makes them sound cool and superior.

They have an EXTREME form of tolerance for cutesyness that would otherwise make the average intelligent adult either vomit or want to kill someone.

They often gather at conventions with other fellow VFL to act out their wildest fantasies via Cosplay.

All of their money is spent on anime related products and spend their entire lives on either watching, playing, talking about, or acting out anime. They even sleeptalk anime phrases (Pikachu, no!). They literally spend $30 dollars on a 'cute' Pikachu plushie that probably costs 10 cents to make.

They often claim themselves to be the 'smart' nerds because they are able to follow a nonsensical Pokemon plot which is normally outgrown by the average 11 year-old.

Their lives are so uninteresting that they like to give names to every single inanimate object they own. They give their car a name, as well as a toy they own. They also like to give alternate names to towns and areas and use code words to speak amongst themselves. They like to stand in awkward positions (by crossing their feet inwards) as if it's something special, and also like to appear as antisocial as possible to later complain about society not accepting them. They grow their hair and nails to a ridiculous length, while at the same time never bothering to shave or maintain good hygiene.

They often rely on their moms to help sew their costumes for cosplay to later claim they made it themselves. They also rely on their mom for a ride to their conventions as well as for...well, just about everything.

They tend to get sick often due to their poor nutrition: nothing but a shitload of candy and soda.

They have a TERRIBLE taste in music and listen to bands like Dragonforce, as well as J-pop and J-rock bands.

They like to go by an anime alias, even at irrelevant or inappropriate times, and often use it as their real name when they meet someone new.

They LOVE to play DDR and love to show off their moves even more at conventions. If it wasn't for DDR, though, they would never engage in any other activity that remotely resembles exercise...well, other than beating off to anime.

They play videogames and practice for days until they can beat the casual gamer. Otherwise, they feel shameful.

They take their Nintendo DS everywhere to play Pokemon.

Everything scares them and they rarely leave their homes as a result.

They are, for the most part, nice, harmless people. Annoying as hell, but nice overall.

Someone completely obsessed with anime. They know everything about it and act like the characters are real.
