As a Census Bureau representative that performs housing and population surveys for the U.S. Dept of Commerce, I once said to an African American resident that there was a lot of “blight” in this area of town. He asked what blight was because he did not know and responded in an ebonically speaking accent “Oh, we dem bano’s because they are abandoned”.
