1)An ideology way of looking at an aspect of society, or to a certain extent anything, which makes it seem better than it actually is.

2) An assumption which for whatever reason exists, and is unfair and untested.

Some sociological thinkers would have you believe they exist to help maintain and cover up power inequalities.

Example:
1)The education system is completly fair and 100% a meritocracy - this is ideological.

2)Single parent families are bad for society. Same sex couples make bad parents. Ideologys.

You people have it all wrong! The lesser-known definition/concept of ideology (favored by Gramsci, Althusser, Foucault, Hall etc.) is less about a "visible set of beliefs" and more about the internalization of how one perceives and interacts with their reality. Though somewhat indirectly related, it generally has nothing to do with politics and economic policies.

Ideology is everything under the hood, everything you take for granted without consciously realizing it. Therefore, it would be safe to say that language is an ideology, since it follows a set of grammatical rules that we have to take for granted in order to communicate.

It would also be safe to say that love is an ideology, as loving someone does not take any conscious reasoning. Love is so deep-seated in us that we treat love as an unstoppable force, and not as simply as chemical fluctuations in the brain and body.

Really, anything could be seen as an ideology if we start deconstructing the very foundations of reality.

Example:
Me, an intellectual: Man... thinking back, university were the good days, really learned a lot there.

Typical hate-mongering political zealot: Yeah... good days when you were indoctrinated with leftist ideology garbage!

Me, an intellectual: Heh, ideology. You keep using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means.

Example:

Steve: Use some circumboxive ideology, Joe. FedEx hasn't arrived yet. Use them. Or the UPS store is open all day. Jeesh.

Some people think it's some fucked up religion that thinks sex isn't real and that everyone and their kids MUST be transed.

In reality, it's just people denoting a clear difference between sex and gender. One is down there (and much more), and one is up there (and much more). People will call anyone in favor of helping trans people "gender ideologists", but will refuse to elaborate on what "gender ideology" is.

Example:
Bob: GRRRRRRRRRR... all these gender ideology people and their pronouns!
Richard: Dude, what are you even saying?
Bob: Didn't you hear, man? They want to trans your kids!
Richard: I don't think that trans girl with the Nintendo Switch cares about your kids.

An ideologue with a high capacity for spite and prejudice. They are known to idealize one or more of the demographic groups they belong to, while demonizing those who do not. This abuse may also extend to non-believers in their ideology.

Justifiably, ideological bigots are hated the most by their own demographic... I mean, who wants an ideological bigot dragging them down?

Example:
I can't be an ideological bigot! Bigotry is bad, and feminist literature proves that lgbt folk are incapable of such! How could a single utterance of "kill all cis-scum" be enough to tarnish my good record of wanting different genitalia?
