Okay, I was going to be really mean and say how crappy I think the midwest is. But, with the exception of Missouri (which was actually kind of pretty) and Kansas (which was too flat for my taste), I've not really seen the midwest. And I know plenty of people from the midwest who are really nice and cool. Sure, midwesterners get labeled as fat, boring and backward, but hey, you can find people like that all over the country, right? I don't think the midwest has a monopoly.

I admit, I must have the deserts of Arizona, the mountains of Colorado and the beaches of California, the spicy food of the southwest, and the sunshine all over the west, but I'm sure the midwest has it's share of interesting stuff too.

Anyway, we're all Americans, so what difference does it make?

a place were basically the average middle class Americans live, who work hard for their money. Not rich snobs in New England or the West Coast and not lazy welfare bums from the South. I'm from Western Pennsylvania which I consider to be part of the Midwest (only thing missing is plains). Not eastern Pennsylvania with all the snobs in Philadelphia.

A waste of space. No mountains, no beaches. Just farm animals, fields, and boring people/hicks. Nothing at all ever happens there, with the exception of Chicago and one or two other places. Exists only to make it a hassle for people to get between the east coast and the mountains/west coast. Almost as pointless as Canada.

-a place where they have more guns than people.
-wasted space between New York and Seattle. I'll keep Minneapolis and St. Paul (the famouse Twin Cities), thank you.
-an area so cold nine months out of the year that mexicans seem as though they may be the only ones smart enough not to go there.
-where it is costomary to pause for at least 2 seconds before responding in conversation. (The longer you pause, the more intelligent you must be)
-a famous childhood book called "Where the republican Things Are" is about the midwest. j/k
-a place that, if it didn't exist, the USA would be one huge city called NewYorkMiamiDallasPhoenixLAPortlandSeattle.

the gateway to the west,
affordable living,
and a hell of a lot of lakes.

A region of the United States. Most people that haven't been there are, of course, the ones that know nothing about the Midwest, and label it as a place filled with Rednecks and farmland. What people really need to realize is that the Midwest has far more to offer than just farmland and rednecks. There are large Asian, Black, and Latino populations here. Made up of twelve states: 1) Region that the U.S. Census Bureau claims is comprised of these twelve states: Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, and Missouri.

Chicago, Illinois - The REAL second city, although it's the third largest city in the United States, and has the second largest downtown, only behind Midtown Manhattan. Very much diverse.
Detroit - Notorious for being one of the most dangerous cities in the US, many suburban areas are ritzy, including Troy, home of the Somerset Collection.
Indianapolis - The third largest city in the midwest. It's the second largest capital city in the US, and it's population is expected to keep on rising. Although a lot of the homes are older, there are newer subdivisions, including homes in Meridian Hills, which houses some of Indiana's most wealthy.
There's also St. Louis, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Milwaukee, and many more.
So what if there is a lot of farmland?! The Midwest has some of the richest soil in the world. So before you go and say "Who wants to go to the midwest? There's like, nothing there." Actually take some time out of your "busy" day and see what you're actually talking about. kthx!
