the Ritz
1. A brand of crackers. Many times, they're actually two crackers with a filling in the middle, such as cheese or peanut butter. According to a submitted definition, it's this way because 'Ritz' is apparently slang for a half-Asian, half-European person - the white crackers were the white part and the yellow cheese is the Asian part. Another definition here claims it's that way because the maker of
Ritz wanted a fancy name.
Whatever the case may be, the cracker brand is owned by a large corperate company -
Nabisco - so both explainations seem unlikely, but they may be true.2. Fancy or elegant. (Exact definition.)3. 'Stylishness.' This definition is implied from the song 'Puttin' on
the Ritz,' which describes one trying to seem stylish, and then says, 'puttin' on the Ritz.' When it says, 'go to... where Fashion sits' before 'puttin' on the Ritz,' it's implying that wearing the latest fashion is related to Ritz, and that Ritz is largely based on your appearance. The song also mentions one trying to look like
Gary Cooper, who was a popular celebrity at the time of the song's creation. 'Puttin' on the Ritz' evidently means 'dressing up stylishly.'

Example:
e.g. "I need some ritz so I can study for my
finals and write my
thesis." (which, with
the help of ritz, you could complete in one night!)
e.g. "I am so ritzed right now, i could fly."

(verb) to fix something, (normally in a hospitality venue), but in a really tacky, down-market or shoddy way. Often done using
gaffer tape (aka Ritz tape), or just by trying to carefully arrange the malfunctioning object so it looks vaguely
passable for use in the workplace, or with customers.
(adjective) something that has been Ritzed, or has the appearance of having been Ritzed, ie is
rickety or broken or just hanging together by a thread.
(Derived from an ironic reference to the high-class Ritz chain of hotels).
Example:
Cory: "Hey Nick, another one of these damn
trestle tables has
splintered, check out this big chunk that some
derro ripped off"
Nick: "Doesn't matter man, we need to get this all sorted. Ritz that shit up"
Cory: "With gaffer?"
Nick: "Yeah man. It's in the safe."
(later)
Cory: "All done mate"
Nick: "Nice. That shit is hella Ritzy".

Apart from crackers, style or wiggers, this word can also be uttered by disappointed or
ungrateful persons. It's a
simpler way of saying 'big deal', 'so what?',
'Is that all there is?'.
Example:
Deek stared with incredulity at the meal set before him. In the dead centre of a plate, the size of a small coffee table,
lay one solitary dod of potato salad.
"Ritz", he
rumbled.
