Shoujo
by The Final Maelstrom on Sep 08, 2022 06:45:17
First coined by Vtuber and Illustrator Ui Mama (Shigure Ui).
Taken inspiration from how Vtuber
Hoshimachi Suisei uses the word “
Shounen” to describes a male
animanga body archetype distinct from your usual Shota, Ui decided to make a female version of the word.
Shoujo refers to female animanga characters that look just a little too old to be a Loli. (i.e. Hu Tao from Genshin Impact)
Example:
Weeb A: Man I love this
Loli character
Weeb B:
Hmm she looks more like a Shoujo to me

shoujo sparkles
by Spritedust on May 15, 2004 18:00:00
n. pl. light of unknown origin radiating from the forms of female characters in
shoujo manga, so as to designate their inherent inner (and possibly outer) beauty. A relative of the
Bishounen Tailwind phenomenon, in which pretty, androgynous boys in anime are followed by a constant breeze that causes their hair and/or clothes to ripple at appropriate moments of drama.
Example:
Oscar de Jarjayes radiates shoujo sparkles.
shoujo ai
by Erin on May 01, 2003 08:57:17
A type of anime/manga dealing with
girl x girl love. As
shounen ai is about boys in love, shoujo ai is about girls in love. Not hentai
Example:
The love of Tenjou
Utena and
Himemiya Anthy, from the series Revolutionary Girl Utena, is an example of a shoujo ai-type relationship.

Another method of spelling "
shoujo ai".
Shoujo ai is a lesbian relationship in anime that is non-erotic. Also see "shoujo ai", without a
dash.

While most people think
shoujo-ai is a Japanese term, that is incorrect.
Shoujo-ai is actually an American term, and is supposed to be the equivelent of what
shounen-ai is supposed to be, only with two girls instead of two boys.
In Japan, yuri is the actual term used to represent lesbian relationships, regardless of whether it's sexually explicit or very innocent.

The female equivelant of
shonen ai. A female/female romance with an emphasis on the 'cute' aspect.
No porn, no sex scenes, just
adorableness.
Example:
"I read an adorable story about
Sango and
Kagome having
crushes on each other. It was the best shoujo ai I've ever read!"
