Wayland
a set of protocols for graphical environment on Linux or other Unix-like systems. Generally seen as an alternative to Xorg (or a rebel to Xorg by some), it would take a lot of time for Wayland to surpass Xorg due to serveral limitations.
Example:
Friend: I use OBS for screen recording.
Me: I could use that now given that wayland supports screen sharing now, but the global keybinds have still not arrived yet, so I am just gonna use HDMI output to record my screen.
